Stevo SimpleBoy’s former manager, Vaga Genius, speaks after they announced that they are done working with him.
Speaking in an interview with one of our very own journalists, Liz Jackson, He addressed the claims that Stevo was being exploited, dismissing them and saying that the artist was the one who was at fault as he wanted to run the business the way they saw fit as a family.
“As far as their issues were, they wanted to have their own control. They wanted to run it as a family business, and according to us, familia na biashara hazipelekani.”
He also said that even after they terminate the contract with the artist, he will still be granted full access to his accounts, something that doesn’t normally happen when an artist exits a label, saying that the essence of doing that is because they want to see the artist grow.
“We agreed to give 100% rights to the music we all produced with that guy… He is going to have everything, and in case he may need extra support, we will avail ourselves of it.”
He also shared the reason as to why he decided to take Stevo on a live performance, saying that he thought they should give it a try considering the potential they saw in him.
Adding that there’s no bad blood between them, he wishes him all the best in his career.
He also urged artists to remember that working with a label is a business deal and not entirely a family business. And urged them to be patient.
