Main Story:

Diversions Announced for Motorists

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has advised Nairobi motorists to brace for traffic changes during Friday’s World Cup qualifier. Fans traveling to and around Kasarani will face restricted access on several routes.

Motorists heading to Mwiki via Thika Road should use the Ruaka–Baba Dogo–Lucky Summer–Nairobi River–Mwiki route. Those going to Ruiru, Juja, or Thika are directed to Kiambu Road through Exit 4 due to a roadblock at Muthaiga.

Drivers heading into the Nairobi CBD from Thika, Juja, or Ruiru will have to avoid Thika Road and instead use the Northern Bypass or Kiambu Road, with a roadblock set up at the Ruiru interchange.

From Githurai to Nairobi CBD, traffic will be redirected through the Githurai 44–Kiambu Road route.

Access to Kasarani Stadium

Fans driving to Kasarani without official access passes will be required to use service lanes at Exit 7 and Exit 8. Additional police officers will be deployed along Thika Road to direct traffic and maintain order.

“The National Police Service continues to work collaboratively with relevant agencies and urges all motorists to cooperate with officers on-site to ensure smooth traffic flow,” the statement noted.

Harambee Stars’ Qualification Chances

Kenya enters the match sitting fourth in their group with six points, trailing leaders Ivory Coast (16 points), Gabon (15 points), and Burundi (10 points). A win against Gambia is crucial if Harambee Stars are to keep their faint World Cup qualification hopes alive.
