Kenyan Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has clarified his statements concerning the existence of tigers in Kenya.
Speaking during a Red Cross Gala dinner at the Boma Hotel on Monday, he said that to him, tigers and leopards are the same, hence the reason he put it out that way.
Adding to that, the reason it came out the way it did is basically because some of them, including him, think in their first language and translate it later on to English.
“In the Kikuyu nation where I come from, the leopard and the tiger are one and the same. When I was talking about the tiger, I saw some critics here asking me where the tiger was. I am telling them the tiger and the leopard are the same where I come from.”
The Dp said these very words last week in Bogotá, urging the business community in Colombia to invest in Kenya and enjoy the rare species found there.
“Kenya is a very warm country; we are very welcoming people, very hospitable, and we invite Colombian business people to come and invest in Kenya.
Again, as you come to invest in Kenya, we have many facilities for tourism. We have rare species of wildlife: the elephant, rhino, buffalo, and tiger said
The above conversation sparkled a lot of conversations online that made him respond to it immediately after realizing that there weren’t tigers in the country by saying that to him the two are the same, and he does at times think in his first language before responding, urging the public to spare him on that.
The Deputy President has been known for putting smiles on people’s faces since the day he was sworn into power, when there was controversy when it came to taking an oath in office.
