Main Story

Kenya’s Harambee Starlets delivered a near-perfect performance on Tuesday, dismantling Uganda’s Crested Cranes in a commanding 4-0 victory. The match, played under floodlights at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam, showcased Kenya’s sharp attack and solid defence

Diana Wacera opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a clinical header off a corner. Dorcas Shikobe added the second in the 26th, before Violet Nanjala made it 3-0 just two minutes later with a powerful finish. Martha Amunyolet wrapped it up in the 80th minute with another strong header, sealing Uganda’s fate.

Goalkeeper Lilian Awuor kept a second straight clean sheet, anchoring a disciplined Kenyan defence that kept Uganda’s strikers at bay. It was a frustrating night for the defending champions, who now face early elimination after a winless start.

Kenya now shares the top spot in Group A with hosts Tanzania, who also have six points. The Starlets will next face South Sudan on June 19, before a potentially group-deciding clash against Tanzania on June 21.

With two wins in the bag and confidence soaring, the question now is: can the Harambee Starlets go all the way and bring the CECAFA crown home?
