Single dad Shatta Bway opens up about helping his kids heal after their mother’s untimely loss

Published on

Single father Shatta Bway, known off-air as Steve Jacob Maunda, recently shared his experiences raising his children after the passing of their mother in June 2023. In a heartfelt interview with TV47, Bway discussed his approach to preventing childhood trauma and creating a secure environment for his grieving kids.

Keeping Mom’s Memory Alive

Bway emphasizes the importance of open communication. He encourages his children to talk about their mother freely, believing it will aid their healing process.

“Blocking the conversation won’t help them heal,” he says. “Talking it through is healthy.” By keeping their mother’s memory alive, Bway hopes to provide a sense of continuity and comfort for his children.

Prioritizing the Kids’ Well-Being

Bway acknowledges that his decision not to remarry might raise eyebrows. He explains his choice is based on personal experiences and observations of blended families. Having grown up in a polygamous household, he’s witnessed firsthand the challenges children can face in such settings.

“They might not feel safe to speak up,” he explains, fearing they might upset the new parent’s relationship with their biological father.

Bway highlights the emotional well-being of his children as his top priority. By fostering a loving and secure home where they can openly discuss their feelings, he hopes to shield them from long-term trauma.
