President William Ruto has made additional changes to his list of new Cabinet nominees that he unveiled last Friday.
In a surprise announcement to Parliament on Tuesday afternoon, Speaker Moses Wetang’ula revealed that Hon. Aden Duale had been re-assigned from the Defense Ministry to the Environment Ministry, whereas Soipan Tuya was given the ministry of Defense.
Duale took the change positively and decided to thank the President for once again trusting him and assigning him the CS role.
“I am grateful to President @WilliamsRuto for reassigning me from the Defense Ministry to the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry. I look forward to serving in my new portfolio and ensuring focus is on sustainable environmental management, combating climate change, and promoting reforestation and conservation efforts,” reads the post.
Duale added, “Indeed, ‘And it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows, but you do not know.’ – Quran 2:216.”

The dismissal of the cabinet secretaries
On July 11, 2024, President William Ruto addressed the nation, declaring that he will no longer be working with the Cabinet Secretaries and Attorney General that he was initially working with because they were said to be incompetent by Kenyans.
“I have, in line with the powers given to me by Article 152(1) and 152(5)(b) of the Constitution and Section 12 of the Office of the Attorney-General Act, decided to dismiss with immediate effect all the Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney-General from the Cabinet of the Republic of Kenya except the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs,” said Ruto.
Even so, all Cabinet nominees will have to undergo vetting, including those whom President William Ruto retained in the fresh nominations unveiled on Friday last week.
