At a launch ceremony at State House, Nairobi, President William Ruto affirmed his administration’s “irrevocable commitment” to delivering Universal Health Coverage for all Kenyans.

He introduced the SHA Sponsorship Programme, which allows more than 2.2 million vulnerable citizens to access medical services free of charge. According to Ruto, the initiative is rooted in fairness ensuring that healthcare is not tied to economic status but recognized as a right.

The programme is part of the Social Health Authority reforms aimed at making healthcare financing more inclusive and sustainable. Ruto pledged that the government will continue identifying more Kenyans in need, steadily expanding the reach of the sponsorship initiative.
The President said the reforms are intended to strengthen the healthcare system so that it becomes robust, responsive, and equitable for every Kenyan.
