Central Organization Trade Union (COTU) Boss Francis Atwoli has slammed Kenyans complaining about the high cost of living, saying that they have no reason whatsoever to blame President Ruto as he is just living his word.

Addressing a gathering, the leader of workers said that Ruto is way better because, even with the high cost of living, he had initially prepared Kenyans psychologically for these back then when he was campaigning in the year 2022, and the least they should do is not fail to cooperate with him.

He said that Ruto is doing nothing wrong by taxing Kenyans more, as he had given them a heads-up on what to expect.

“People are crying over the cost of living… But better, William Samoei Ruto. He was clear when campaigning; he told you, Wewe mama mboga, Wewe mtu wa bodaboda this government, we will build it with you.

Sasa unaambiwa leta mbao tujenge serikali unarudi nyuma unaanza  kulalamika. Atwoli shared.

He said that when campaigning, President Ruto told the public that they were going to build the country together and that him taxing the public more and increasing the price of fuel, among other things, was part of his manifesto to build the country and try to pay off the big debts that were left behind by the former president.

Since President Ruto took charge of the government, not only has fuel increased but also the high cost of living, leave alone school fees that have almost tripled, everything has shot up, and all this, according to them, is so that they can be able to pay the big debt that was left behind, something that Gachagua said will take a while before the country stabilizes, asking the public to be understanding.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua

“We found ourselves in a hole. If you are intelligent, when you find yourself in a hole, you stop digging, and we are doing so by tightening revenue collection, sealing leakages, and making sure every cent is collected to pay debt,” Gachagua issued a statement back then.
