Yesterday, Swedish Company ROAM, in partnership with Kenya Power (KPLC) launched their first electric bus that will be operating in cities of the country.
The Bus can carry on board 90 passengers, and it has room for standing as well. The Bus has the capability of covering 360 km with its battery pack, before it runs out of charge.
The bus has a lot of advantages compared to the other usual buses on the road, favoring even the vulnerable like the ones using clutches there’s a section where they can put their clutches as well as enough spacious room to sit.
The company is looking to reduce the congestion and save time, by introducing this bus, it will mean that traffic will be reduced as well as reduce spending a lot of money in fuel as this one is charged for 2 hours and will have the capability of running almost the whole day.
Denis wakaba, the Board member assured to avail their own charging Infrastructure to help the buses, Payment will be done online as well as cash if you wish to.
The Buses will be first brought to the Nairobi Metropolitan Area, which will now each be dispatched to various counties if decided so and be given routes, but their main priority is to work on the city of Nairobi.
