Headteacher Abducted in Broad Daylight
On the morning of November 4, the headteacher of Gatuto Primary School, Joshua Kerai, was ambushed in Kagumo, Kirinyaga East Sub-County. Allegedly forced into a maroon Toyota Ractis (registration KCP 816F), his captors reportedly drove him around in circles while he endured a terrifying ordeal.

Rescue at Sahara Petrol Station
Hours later, Kerai was discovered inside the car at Sahara Petrol Station, Kutus in Kutus Town distressed but alive. A good Samaritan alerted authorities and he was air-lifted to Kerugoya Catholic Hospital for treatment and care.
Suspect in Custody, Hunt Continues
Thanks to excellent detective work combining forensics and intelligence, officers traced the main suspect, Patrick Gacoki Muembe, to a hideout in Kutus. He is now in custody. Investigators say he is a serial offender with a history of motor vehicle theft, stock theft, robberies and shop break-ins across the region. Two accomplices, however, remain unarrested as the manhunt continues.

Authorities are calling on members of the public with any information about the whereabouts of the remaining suspects to come forward. The investigation remains active and the police have pledged to bring all involved to justice.
