President Ruto swears in Kenya prisons service commissioner general Patrick Mwiti

President William Ruto has today sworn in Kenya Prisons Service Commissioner General Patrick Mwiti Arandu at State House, Nairobi.

He gave him assurance of his support as he undertakes the huge role.

“I want to pledge and commit my support and that of the entire government to you and the prison service as you undertake the great transformation you want of the Prison Service,” Ruto said.

The president further stated that he’s commited to increase salaries of the police and prison officers.

“From this month we will be living up to our commitment to enhance the salaries of our police and prison officers,” President Ruto said.

Salary Increase for National Police Service and Kenya Prisons Service

The National Police Service and Kenya Prisons Service have implemented a new salary structure. Constables will see a rise from Ksh 38,975 to Ksh 40,354 per month, with even larger increases for promoted officers. Newly promoted corporals will now earn Ksh 27,879, while sergeants will see their pay rise to Ksh 38,829 (recently promoted) and Ksh 55,049 (long-serving). Senior sergeants will benefit from a Ksh 1,379 raise, bringing their new salary to Ksh 41,649 for recently promoted officers and Ksh 60,449 for senior officers.
