President William Ruto has finally responded to the numerous chants that netizens have been spewing out for the past several days.
The chants were expedited by the finance bill, which was at the final stage of being passed.
Netizens were disenchanted with the President for his previous intention of conglomerating the finance bill 2024 in his plans. It was just too much for them to bear, thus leading to the demonstrations that went on for days.
For a larger section of netizens, it was uncouth of the president to consider passing the bill despite numerous voices despising it.
Ruto responds
President Ruto has already received messages about what most Kenyans actually think about him. Yesterday, he was in an interview with 3 renowned Kenyan journalists, who delved into the president’s political ambition, current and previous work.
Linus Kaikai openly stated people’s chants on the streets ‘Ruto must go’ and asked the president what his sentiment is about it.
In response, the president explained that everyone is free to share their opinion.
“Everybody is entitled to their opinion. I have a job to do. Citizens are free to engage in discourse that they want to but those are the fruits and signs of a democracy. We all enjoy freedom of speech,” Ruto said.
Despite criticism of the finance bill that was withdrawn, the president said that if it had passed, Kenya would make huge steps towards a better future. However, he stated that he would look into areas which would help Kenya recover their financial burden and re-pay their loans.
