In a show of growing confidence in the ongoing peace efforts, six residents from Kipchumwa, Wewe, Endul, and Maron Sub-Locations of Marakwet Sub-County voluntarily handed over six illegal rifles and 27 rounds of ammunition to officers stationed at Embobut Police Station.

The latest surrender marks steady progress in Operation Rudisha Bunduki, a government-led disarmament drive aimed at curbing armed violence and promoting long-term stability in Kenya’s North Rift region.

Impressive Milestones Recorded

Authorities revealed that since the operation began, a total of 299 illegal firearms, 2,173 rounds of ammunition, and one fragmentation grenade have been surrendered voluntarily in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

The National Police Service described the continued disarmament as a “positive step” toward restoring peace and rebuilding trust among previously affected communities.
