For months, the Briton had been chatting with a Kenyan woman online a beauty who called herself Samira. Promises of love and paradise drew him to Mombasa, where Samira invited him to her apartment in Nyali for what seemed like a perfect date night.
But moments into the evening, things took a sharp turn.
The Fake Raid
Two men suddenly burst into the apartment one claiming to be Samira’s furious husband, and the other pretending to be a police officer. Accusations flew, with the “husband” threatening violence and the fake cop warning of arrest.
Panicked and desperate, the Briton was forced to transfer Sh800,000 to mobile numbers provided by the trio. Once the money went through, they calmly walked him out and vanished into the Mombasa night.
