Main Story

On the night of November 3, 2024, at around 11 pm, two Kawangware residents were violently attacked in separate incidents. The first victim was robbed of a Tecno mobile phone valued at Ksh24,000, while the second was accosted shortly afterward and lost a Ksh15,000 phone, along with cash, under threats of violence.

After reviewing evidence and testimonies, the Kibera Law Courts found the accused guilty on both counts of robbery with violence—a capital offence under Kenyan law. The man was handed the death sentence, a mandatory penalty for this charge, though executions are rarely carried out in practice.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) confirmed the conviction via public channels, noting that the case sends a strong message about the consequences of violent crime. Prosecutors emphasized that the convict had intentionally targeted vulnerable residents at night, demonstrating premeditated criminal intent.

As courts clamp down on violent offenders, the message is clear: in Kenya, violent crime comes with the highest price.
