Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen touched down in Maralal Town on Thursday as he led a high-level security delegation to engage with local residents under the Jukwaa la Usalama program. The initiative is a government-led forum designed to bring security officials face-to-face with citizens in a bid to address grassroots concerns and enhance public safety.

In Samburu County, where incidents of insecurity have often disrupted daily life, Murkomen emphasized the need for unity and collaboration between residents and law enforcement. He reiterated that community input is vital in developing sustainable security solutions.

Samburu is among several counties targeted by the campaign due to recurring security challenges, including cattle rustling and inter-community tensions. Through Jukwaa la Usalama, the Ministry of Interior is pushing for more proactive policing, better coordination with local leaders, and increased public awareness.

Murkomen’s visit follows similar engagements in other counties, as the government ramps up efforts to demystify security operations and build a citizen-first approach to law enforcement.

Is Kenya’s path to lasting peace rooted in community voices? The Jukwaa la Usalama tour hopes so.
