Kenya set to host ‘Harmony4Haiti’ concert to demonstrate solidarity with Haiti

The Government of Kenya, in partnership with the Africa for Haiti (A4H) Initiative, will host the ‘Harmony4Haiti’ Concert and Cultural Festival on August 24, 2024.

The festival, announced by Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei of the State Department for Foreign Affairs, aims to celebrate the deep cultural and historical ties between Africa and Haiti.“Africa and Haiti share rich historical and cultural connections,” Sing’oei said. “This event will highlight these bonds and demonstrate our solidarity with the Haitian people.”

The festival will feature a diverse lineup of activities. Renowned artists from Haiti and Africa will perform, showcasing the unique musical traditions of their homelands. Attendees will also enjoy a cultural exhibition displaying Haitian and African art, crafts, and cuisine, offering a vibrant experience of both cultures.

In addition, a panel discussion will explore the historical, cultural, and socio-economic links between Haiti and Africa. Experts will provide insights into the enduring relationship and future opportunities for cooperation.

Sing’oei also emphasized Kenya’s broader support for Haiti, including contributions to the Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission. “Kenya is committed to supporting Haiti in security, governance, and development,” Sing’oei said.

The ‘Harmony4Haiti Concert and Cultural Festival’ represents more than just a celebration. It underscores Kenya’s dedication to global peace and the shared vision for a harmonious and prosperous future for Haiti. The event promises to bridge cultures and strengthen the connection between the people of Africa and Haiti.
