Main Story:
Juja MP George Koimburi has found himself on the wrong side of the law after being linked to an elaborate fake abduction plot. He appeared at Milimani Law Courts to respond to charges of publishing false information, conspiracy to defeat justice, and evading a separate court case on land fraud.
The saga traces back to May 25, 2025, when reports emerged that Koimburi had been kidnapped near a church in Mugutha, Juja. According to police, a report was filed claiming he had been taken by armed men. But investigators later discovered it may have been a setup to dodge a court appearance.
After Koimburi failed to attend his initial court date, Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi issued a warrant for his arrest. Two other individuals, including an MCA and a close associate, were also implicated in the plot.
The MP later resurfaced with claims that he had been abducted and tortured, even sharing his story on YouTube—another move that is now under scrutiny as part of the case.

Koimburi and his co-accused, who are out on a Ksh300,000 bond, will now return to court on August 5 for plea taking. If found guilty, the charges could carry serious legal and political consequences for the first-term lawmaker.
As the courtroom drama unfolds, Kenyans are left asking—how far will some leaders go to dodge accountability?
