The Social Health Authority system, launched to streamline healthcare services across the country, has faced criticism from users and providers who claim it has operational flaws. However, CS Mercy Mwangangi maintains that the system itself is effective, stressing that the real challenge lies in user adoption.

Speaking during a health sector address, Mwangangi noted that some providers have expressed difficulty navigating the platform, with a few requesting capacity training. “We have heard those cries,” she assured, promising that the ministry would provide support to ensure smooth usage.

The CS acknowledged that technology transitions can be challenging, especially in a sector as critical as healthcare. She called on providers to be patient and open to learning as the system is refined to serve Kenyans better.

Mwangangi reiterated the government’s commitment to making SHA work seamlessly, noting that capacity building and continuous engagement with providers will help address the teething problems.
