Key Defenders Out
Harambee Stars will head into Thursday’s clash against Seychelles without two defensive regulars. Aboud Omar is suspended, while Alphonse Omija is away on club duty. Despite the absences, coach Benni McCarthy says the focus is firmly on delivering a strong performance at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani.

Coach McCarthy’s Approach

McCarthy, who took charge of Stars recently, underlined the importance of mentality and work ethic over talent alone.
“We respect every opponent whether it’s Seychelles or any other team. But we’re not here just to participate. We’re here to win and build for 2027,” he said.
The South African tactician hinted at using more local-based players, while placing emphasis on set-pieces and high pressing as Kenya’s key tactical weapons.
Seychelles head coach Ralph Jean-Louis has warned that his side is not in Nairobi to make up the numbers.
“We know Kenya is strong, especially at home, but we’ve come here to win. We’re focused, and anything can happen in football,” he said.
His captain Dean Mothe echoed that sentiment, stressing the squad’s high morale and readiness for the task ahead.
Previous Encounter
In their last meeting, Harambee Stars outclassed Seychelles with a 5-0 victory, but both sides insist Thursday’s encounter will be played with renewed determination.
For Harambee Stars, Thursday may be a dead rubber, but for McCarthy and his squad, it’s a chance to prove they’re building a team ready to compete on the big stage.
