Five Gigiri Police Officers Released on Ksh200,000 Bond After Escape of Collins Jumaisi & 12 Others

Published on

Five police officers from Gigiri Police Station have been released on a personal bond of Ksh200,000 each, despite facing accusations of aiding the escape of a notorious serial killer and 12 other detainees.

The incident occurred on August 20 when Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, a suspect in the murders of 42 women, and 12 Eritrean detainees managed to break out of custody. The officers were arrested and charged in connection with the escape, but the court ruled that they could be released pending further investigation.

The escape has sparked outrage and suspicion, with authorities focusing on the possibility of internal involvement. New details suggest that the detainees simply walked out of the police station’s main door under the watch of two officers, raising questions about their complicity.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has offered a significant cash reward for any information leading to Jumaisi’s arrest. As the investigation continues, authorities are examining the mobile phone records and financial transactions of the police officers who were on duty at the time of the escape.
