Main Story
The fatal incident unfolded in the Tuwan area of Kitale when Sapilis Mang’ong’o allegedly returned home and confronted his wife, Miriam Nyambura Mwangi, over ongoing suspicions of infidelity. What began as a verbal argument quickly turned violent, with the 47-year-old reportedly using a blunt object to attack his wife, killing her instantly.

Realising the severity of his actions, Mang’ong’o voluntarily walked into the Kitale Police Station and confessed to the murder. Officers immediately took him into custody and are preparing to charge him with murder.

Assistant Chief Evans Wangwe of Tuwan sub-location confirmed that the couple had a history of domestic issues. According to him, the deceased had previously been accused by neighbours of misconduct, including luring married men and misusing group loans. Wangwe noted that community elders had tried to mediate their issues without success.
The assistant chief urged couples to avoid violence and seek help when dealing with marital challenges. He stated, “We ask our women to remain loyal to their husbands and for our men to resolve disputes through dialogue, not bloodshed.” The body of Miriam was taken to Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital as investigations continue.
