Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino on Tuesday morning paid a visit to Kenyatta National Hospital, where several victims of yesterday’s protests are receiving treatment for gunshot wounds. The MP shared disturbing details of what he witnessed, saying the extent of the injuries suggests extreme use of force by police officers.
According to Babu, one victim had seven gunshot wounds to the back, while two others had been shot in the eye. Another had sustained a gunshot wound in the leg, with two more suffering injuries to the neck and lower back.
Describing the scene as horrifying, Babu Owino likened it to a massacre, expressing deep concern over the police’s handling of peaceful demonstrators. “This is not the Kenya we want,” he stated, emphasizing that no citizen should be punished for standing up for their rights or future.
