Akothee Surprising Encounter with Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan

Popular Kenyan musician and businesswoman Esther Akoth, better known as Akothee, took to social media to share an inspiring encounter she experienced on the morning of Friday, August 9th, at the Speke Munyonyo Hotel.

The mother of five was deeply honored when former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan approached her after noticing her wearing the Nigerian National Youth Service uniform.

“This morning, I was humbled at the reception of the Speke Munyonyo Hotel when the former President of Nigeria spotted me dressed in the Nigerian National Youth Service uniform. He walked straight over to me.” Akothee wrote.

Akothee Unexpected Encounter:

Akothee, who is not one to seek proximity to power, was taken aback when the former president walked straight over to her. Despite her usual aversion to protocol, this moment was different.

“Protocol and I are like water and oil. I don’t go close to power. until the former president said, “Let me say hello to this young lady who is dressed like our National Youth Service. Young lady, I saw you come in. Where are you from? Are you from Nigeria? You look very smart.“ Former president Goodluck said.

The mother of five, feeling both nervous and honored, replied, “My name is Esther Akoth Kokeyo. I’m from Kenya, known as Akothee. I am currently in Uganda serving as the Brand Ambassador for Uganda Tourism, thanks to the Uganda Consulate in Mombasa. In addition to being an advocate for tourism, I am also an artist. Notably, I collaborated on a song with Mr. Flavour. of Nigeria; I love my Nigerians.”

The former president, clearly impressed, continued the conversation, asking, “Oooh, okay, great! Where are you performing today? We would like to come.”

Akothee’s Reflection:

Renowned businesswoman Akothee shared her emotions, describing how she felt nervous yet honored during the interaction. She described Goodluck Jonathan as a humble man and noted that the encounter had truly made her year.

She wrapped up her message with a hopeful note for her followers: “Do what you are good at doing; you never know who is watching.“ Akothee shared.

Akothee Land’s ambassadorial role for Uganda-Kenya tourism

Sharing the exciting news with her fans on social media, Akothee proudly announced that she had officially been appointed as the Brand Ambassador for Uganda-Kenya Tourism.

This recognition came to her during the Uganda-Kenya Coast Tourism Conference, held in Uganda. Additionally, she shared a series of photos online showing herself standing alongside prominent officials from both Uganda and Kenya.

Akothee’s Commitment to Promoting Tourism

In her announcement, Akothee shared her strong passion for tourism, wildlife, culture, and heritage. She emphasized her unwavering dedication to her new role, vowing to do everything possible to boost tourism in both Kenya and Uganda.

The mother of five also highlighted the importance of collaboration between the two countries to enhance tourist experiences, boost revenue, create jobs, and promote cultural exchange.

“I have always been passionate about tourism and automatically become an advocate for tourism, wildlife, culture, and heritage. As the official brand ambassador for Uganda-Kenya tourism under Explore Uganda, courtesy of Ambassador Paul Mukumbya, I am dedicated to serving both Kenya and Uganda in matters of tourism and cultural exchange, both personally and professionally,” Akothee shared with her followers.
