Main Story:
Shooting at Utah Valley University
Charlie Kirk, founder of the conservative youth group Turning Point USA, was engaging students at Utah Valley University when gunfire erupted. Wearing a white t-shirt with the word Freedom, he was answering a question on gun violence when a single bullet struck him in the neck.

Chaos followed as the audience ducked for cover. Kirk collapsed immediately, and his security detail rushed him away on a stretcher. Despite emergency intervention, he did not survive.
A Targeted Attack
Authorities have labeled the shooting a targeted act. Investigators believe the sniper fired from the roof of a building overlooking the courtyard. Two men were initially detained for questioning, but later released. One, George Zinn, now faces obstruction charges, though police say he is not tied to the shooting itself.
The manhunt for the killer remains ongoing.
Trump, Harris, and Political Fallout
President Trump broke the news on his Truth Social account, describing Kirk as “great and legendary.” In a video address from the Oval Office, Trump blamed what he called “radical left rhetoric” for fueling political violence, and vowed a crackdown.
Vice President Kamala Harris also condemned the attack, stressing that political violence has no place in democracy.
Trump’s Pledge
Trump promised to pursue not only those directly involved but also groups and individuals he accused of enabling extremist acts, warning of tougher measures to curb political violence in the US.
