Speaking to the press, Gachagua said the phrase means ‘Don’t disturb the status quo,’ adding that the Mount Kenya region is like a dormant volcano.
“Bora usiguze Mulima means don’t disturb the status quo because the English men say if it is working, don’t fix it…Mount Kenya is a diormant volcano; it stays, but it can erupt anytime, so you don’t disturb it; you let it stay.” Rigathi Gachagua said:
He explained further that the people residing on Mount Kenya are people who are very loyal and true to their leaders and should not be disturbed, which is why he came up with the phrase ‘Bora Usiguze Murima’, claiming they are like a dormant volcano.
The phrase ‘Usiguze Murima’ became very popular with almost everyone saying it because of how the Deputy President always speaks highly of the Mount Kenya people in almost every gathering he goes.

DP Gachagua’s message to President Ruto
Like a week ago, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua advised President Ruto not to get involved over the planned impeachments. Mentioning something about the Mount Region people that seemed to have caused a stir online.
Gachagua warned the Kenyan President not to pursue betrayal politics or else the people of Mount Kenya will turn on him just as he has explained above, ‘Erupt’ if disturbed.
“I would like to ask my boss, President William Ruto, to be cautious and do the right thing, and let’s keep our house together. Let’s not be disruptive, and let us not reintroduce the politics of betrayal.
Our people hate betrayal, and they are very unforgiving if you betray them. I ask my brother not to be tempted to go in that direction because these people will be unforgiving. That is just my advice. I’ve been around for a very long time. Hii watu ya mulima Kenya nawajua sana.” Gachagua shared.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is being impeached because Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana filed a censure motion against him, raising concerns over what he termed “unacceptable conduct” for a state officer. He cited Gachagua’s behavior as inconsistent with the leadership standards expected of the Deputy President’s office.
For now, Gachagua’s fate rests with legislators, but one person might still extend him a renewed lease of political life, and that is Kenyan President William Ruto.
