Kenyan media personality Azeezah Hashimi has shared the challenges of hosting the morning show on Hot 96.
Hosting a morning radio show is no small feat, and Azeezah knows this all too well. As an experienced host, she navigates the unique challenges that come with waking up early, keeping energy levels high, and engaging an audience just starting their day.
Speaking to our own journalist Silvakido, Azeezah admitted that it is no easy task, but thanks to her supportive system, she is cruising through nicely.
“It has been 7 months away from radio, and I am looking forward to it because it is a huge responsibility.”
The most obvious challenge is the early start. Morning show hosts often begin their day in the pre-dawn hours to be on air by 6 a.m. or earlier.
“But nastrugggle kuamka kiasi kiasi juu nilikua nimesahau kuamka mapema, but saa hii, I am in my focused girl era. Nafanya kazi 24-7 juu mumekataa kunioa.” Azeezah shared.

She highlighted the challenges that she went through on her first day on radio, saying it was not easy because everyone had tuned in and expectations were high, but thanks to the support system she has, she cruised on nicely.
“Nilitense the first two links, hivi… Of course, I have done this before, but I am also human, so kuna butterflies kiasi and pressure that everyone is tuning in, including my family and boss.
But I had my friends…my videographer was around, who was also one of my closest friends, so nilikua na hiyo support…and I am grateful,” Azeezah shared.
She also shared the reason why she loves radio, saying it is her first love, but issued a disclaimer to all those who want to try radio hosting for the first time to ensure they know how to be honest and be vulnerable at the same time
Despite these challenges, Azeezah finds radio incredibly fun and something she treasures more because she loves interacting with her audience.
